Percussion and Color Guard Camp is a vital part of our Summer Band Camps. This is the week that we strive for re-establishing our fundamentals and we start digging more into the marching band show! If these two groups can get a jump start on the music and choreography for the season, then it makes everything come together so much faster over the next two weeks.

What should I expect for Percussion Camp?

Percussion students will work on establishing some warm-ups and building the routines that the students must have to be able to work as a cohesive unit. Percussion is one of those unusual groups that may get rewritten parts as the season goes along, based on how quickly they progress through their playing techniques. This process can result in music being harder or easier based on the student.

What should I expect for Color Guard Camp?

The primary goal of Color Guard Camp is to establish the fundamentals each member will need to obtain for the success of the show. We will also start to learn the choreography for the show, all of pregame, and a parade tune. There is a lot of hard work put into this week, as a team, to make sure we are all doing everything needed to have a successful year!

July 21-24, 9:00 AM-10:00 AM & 2:00 PM-3:00 PM

If you need an instrument for the marching band season, please come in at 9:00 AM-10:00 AM and 2:00 PM-3:00 PM on Monday-Thursday. All instruments are at the High School, so a band staff member may have to travel to the High School for you to pick up your instrument.

If you had an instrument sent in to be repaired, you can also come get your instrument during those times. Please, reach out to Mr. White and let him know when you plan to get your instrument.

This week is VITAL to the success of our Marching Season! This is the week that we will learn the fundamentals of our marching style, how to navigate the field, and start working on the music for our show, pregame, stand tunes, and parades.

The Schedule for the Week:

  • 7:15 AM - Meet in the Band Room
  • 7:30 AM - Outside on the field, ready for stretches
  • 11:00 AM - Head inside, get cooled down and get ready for lunch.
  • 1:00 PM - Music Rehearsal Begins
  • 4:00 PM - Band is dismissed

Uniform Fitting

We will try to get everyone fitted into a uniform for the upcoming season during this week, as well!
  • Monday - Seniors & Juniors
  • Tuesday - Sophomores
  • Wednesday - Freshmen & New Members
  • Thursday - Anyone who hasn't been fitted

We're going on a trip, in our favorite rocket ship....

We are looking into going to Silver Dollar City again this year on FRIDAY, AUGUST 1. This will be completely free for your student! We are wanting to have a fun, stressless day to build relationships with the various members of our ensemble! All students will also receive a meal voucher to get a meal, while in the park. All we need to know is that if your students plans to attend and if they have a season pass (so we won't need to purchase a ticket for them). We will get this information on Monday, July 28.
