The Missouri All-State Band is one of the most prestigious musical opportunities available to high school band students in Missouri. Membership in this elite ensemble requires an extraordinary commitment to musical excellence, preparation, and personal responsibility.
Students wishing to pursue membership in the Missouri All-State Band must first audition for the SWMMEA District Honor Band on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Students who are selected as members of the District Honor Band or named as an Alternate become eligible to audition for the Missouri All-State Band. The All-State auditions will be held at David H. Hickman High School in Columbia on December 5, 2026.
Students must attend all required rehearsals and performances for both the SWMMEA District Honor Band and, if selected, the Missouri All-State Band in order to remain eligible and in good standing. Participation in these events is a commitment that should be taken seriously.
Students pursuing All-State membership are expected to practice consistently on their own and work regularly with a Band Director to prepare the required audition material. Earning a place in the Missouri All-State Band requires many hours of focused practice, careful preparation, and attention to detail. Success is not achieved by talent alone; it is the result of dedication, perseverance, and a strong work ethic.
The audition process is highly competitive, and students should understand that pursuing All-State membership requires a significant investment of time and effort.
